
Bobcats Sign Jared Dudley
Charlotte Bobcats Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Bernie Bickerstaff announced Wednesday that the team has come to terms with Jared Dudley, the Bobcats first round draft pick. Per the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, Dudley’s contract will be for two years, with the Bobcats having the right to pick up his options for years three and four.
The 22nd overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft will participate with the Bobcats Summer League team in the Pepsi Pro Summer League held in Orlando, Florida, July 9-13.
Dudley, 6-8, 225-pounds, was named the 2006-07 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year after averaging a collegiate career-best 19.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. He finished his career ranked fifth on BC’s career scoring list with 2,071 points and ranks among BC’s career leaders in field goals made (seventh, 689), free throws made (fourth, 573), rebounding (seventh, 936) and steals (eighth, 176). Dudley also started every game that he appeared at Boston College (130).
A unanimous All-ACC First Team selection, Dudley started all 30 games as a senior and played an ACC-best 622 minutes. A John Wooden Award finalist, he posted 10 double-doubles, including a season-high 30 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Michigan State.
