
Three More Guards In For Saturday Workout
Charlotte's preparation for the 2007 NBA Draft continued Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian Hospital Training Center at Charlotte Bobcats Arena with Liberty’s Larry Blair, Pennsylvania’s Ibrahim Jaaber and Wright State’s Dashaun Wood all taking part in the predraft workouts.
Blair was named to the All-Big South First Team as a senior in 2006-07 after averaging a team-best 20.4 points while adding 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists at Liberty. The 6-0, 185-pound guard and Charlotte native was also named the Big South Preseason Player of the Year by Athlon Sports after averaging 22.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.00 steals in 2005-06.
Jaaber won the Ivy League Player of the Year award in 2006-07, marking the second-straight season he won the award, and was named to the All-Ivy League First Team, as well as earning an Honorable Mention All-American nod by The Associated Press. The 6-2, 170-pound guard averaged 15.9 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds and ranked third in the nation with 3.00 steals. With 90 steals on the season, he became the all-time Ivy League leader in career steals with 303. He also led the Ivy League in assists, steals and assist/turnover ration (1.76).
Wood took home the Horizon Conference Player of the Year Award and was selected to the All-Defensive Team in 2006-07. The 5-11, 280-pound guard led the Raiders in scoring (19.6 points), rebounds (5.1), assists (4.0) and steals (1.94) in 33 games in 2006-07. He averaged 15.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.75 steals in 119 games (all starts) in his four-year career at Wright State.
