Art & Essay Contest Winners Recognized
February 10, 2006

The Bobcats recognized 19 student winners of the Cool School Art and Essay Contest, presented by Harris Teeter, on Friday, February 10 at halftime of the team’s game against Toronto at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The winners will also were treated to a pregame reception with Bobcats players.

All students who attended the 2005 Cool School Field Trip game on October 17, 2005, had the opportunity to compete in the contest. For the essay portion of the contest, students were asked who they would choose to be, and why, if they could be a famous athlete for one week. Students competing in the art contest were asked to design a mural that represented the Charlotte Bobcats or the Charlotte Bobcats Arena. A panel of professional writers and artists selected winners for the respective contests.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to recognize these students and have them attend one of our games,” said Bobcats Vice President of Community Relations LaRita Barber. “They worked very hard on their artwork and essays and should be very proud of their efforts.”

The Bobcats and Harris Teeter presented first place ($500), second place ($400) and third place ($200) prizes in the sixth, seventh and eighth grade levels for both contests. Winners also received tickets to the game on February 10, a meet-and-greet with two Bobcats players, a Bobcats fan pack and a Bobcats pennant autographed by Raymond Felton.
