    GERALD WALLACE CONTINUES SEASON OF GIVING
    December 18, 2004 -Thirteen-year-old Jerry Bowens, an underprivileged Charlotte student who is a gifted public speaker and a big Bobcats fan, met Gerald Wallace and General Manager & Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff after the team’s overtime victory over Houston, and he and his family went home with a number of holiday celebration gifts.

    LADY BOBCATS HOLIDAY PARTY
    December 17, 2004 -The Lady Bobcats joined in the organization's Season Of Giving with a holiday party for close to 100 children at the McCrorey YMCA in Charlotte. The Lady Bobcats consists of players, coaches and trainers wives and significant others.

    STREET TURKEYS 2004
    November 23-24, 2004 - The Bobcats partnered once again this year with WFNZ Sports Radio 610 AM and 1660 AM and the "Primetime with the Packman Show" to collect and distribute turkeys to those in need in the Charlotte community through the second annual Street Turkeys collection drive. This year's drive collected $39,626 and 1,810 turkeys.

    BOBCATS TIP OFF SEASON OF GIVING
    November 22, 2004 - The Bobcats hosted the first-ever Hoops and Hope Dinner for more than 100 men, women and children from the Charlotte area at Maggiano’s Little Italy on November 22. Jason Kapono, Brevin Knight, Bernard Robinson and John-Blair Bickerstaff were on hand to serve the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.

    COOL SCHOOL FIELD TRIP
    October 26, 2004 - In an NBA first, the Bobcats played a preseason game for students only on October 26. More than 15,000 students and teachers representing 31 regional cities and 14 counties took part in this unique and educationally geared event.

    INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY
    September 8, 2004 - The Bobcats, along with Charlotte Reads, hosted an “International Literacy Day Reading Timeout” on September 8, 2004, at the First Ward Recreation Center.  Over 250 four and five-year-old children attended the International Literacy Day Celebration.

    YMCA BOOK BASH
    August 14, 2004 - Bobcats mascot Rufus Lynx visited the Gateway Village YMCA Book Bash to hand out new books, book bags and school supplies for the 2004-05 school year to nearly 1,000 children.

    OLYMPIC READING TIME OUT
    August 13, 2004 - The Bobcats celebrated Opening Day of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games with an Olympic-themed Reading Timeout at the First Ward Center Gymnasium. Approximately 300 children from the Uptown YMCA, McCrory YMCA and West Boulevard YMCA Summer Camps participated in the event along with Bobcats assistant coaches Gary Kloppenburg and John Outlaw.

    RUFUS LYNX VISITS CAMP BETHELWOODS
    Rufus Lynx entertained children of all ages on August 11, 2004 at Camp Bethelwoods in Rock Hill, SC. The Muscular Dystrophy Association sent 50 children with neuromuscular diseases to its annual summer camp at Camp Bethelwoods during the week of August 8, 2004.

    BOBCATS ANNOUNCE COOL SCHOOL FIELD TRIP
    The Bobcats will host a “Cool School Field Trip: A Read to Achieve Celebration” event for middle school students attending public and private schools in North and South Carolina on Tuesday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m., in conjunction with the team’s preseason game against the Miami Heat at the Charlotte Coliseum.

    July 28, 2004 - Three members of the Charlotte Bobcats Dance Team -- Tasha, Rashawn and Callie -- and mascot Rufus Lynx celebrated summertime at Ray’s Splash Planet on July 28, 2004. The dance team members read two books to kids from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department Summer Camps.

    RUFUS VISITS CAMP AIR CARE
    June 18, 2004 - Rufus visited children at Camp Air Care at Eagle Rock on June 18, 2004. Camp Air Care, co-sponsored by Presbyterian Hospital, is a camp designed for children ages 6 to 12 years old with asthma. Rufus thrilled the kids with his mini-motorcycle!


    D.E.A.R. CHARLOTTE DAY
    June 10, 2004 - The first annual D.E.A.R. Charlotte Day was held on June 10, 2004. At noon that day, people throughout Charlotte were asked to "Drop Everything And Read". Rufus Lynx was on hand at Founders Hall participating in the festivites.

    PROVIDENCE SPRINGS ACES PROGRAM
    May 5, 2004 - Rufus Lynx, along with Homer the Dragon, Sir Purr and Winger, exercised with 500 children at Providence Springs Elementary School on May 5, 2004. The students at Providence Springs celebrated the ACES program – All Children Exercise Simultaneously – along with thousands of other students across the country. Rufus Lynx helped lead in exercises and gave out awards to the children.

    EARTH DAY READING TIME OUT
    April 22, 2004 - The Charlotte Bobcats teamed up with the Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia, NC to celebrate Earth Day 2004. On April 22, children from the West Gastonia, Gastonia and Bessemer City Boys and Girls Club enjoyed hearing nature stories read to them by Dell Curry (Bobcats Director of Basketball Relations), LaRita Barber (Bobcats Vice President of Community Relations), and Jennifer Stultz (the Mayor of Gastonia).

    CHILDREN'S ART FESTIVAL
    April 2, 2004 - The Charlotte Bobcats were one of many who enjoyed the Sixth Annual Community School of the Arts “Children’s Arts Festival” on Saturday, April 2. Team mascot Rufus Lynx delighted the children as he rode around on his mini-motorcycle and sprayed silly string into the crowd. At the Bobcats Booth, children of all ages made orange, blue and silver jewelry. In addition, an “I luv Rufus” banner was hand-painted by the kids.

    BOBCATS CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS' BIRTHDAY IN STYLE
    March 2, 2004 - The Bobcats hosted a Reading Time Out on March 2 at Trinity Episcopal School as part of Read Across America Day. Bobcats Director of Basketball Relations Dell Curry, mascot Rufus Lynx and WJZY-TV personality Jeff Johnson entertained a group of approximately 160 kids with their reading of the book “The Cat in the Hat".

    BOBCATS AND STING HOST COACHES CLINIC
    Dell Curry, Sting GM/Head Coach Trudi Lacey and the Sting coaching staff hosted a clinic and imparted the importance of basketball fundamentals, practice techniques, game preparation, sportsmanship, teamwork and drills to help develop and coach young players.

    BOBCATS PARTNER WITH WFNZ FOR "STREET TURKEYS"
    The Bobcats partnered with Sports Radio 610 AM WFNZ and the “Primetime with the Packman Show” to collect more than 2,600 turkeys, over $28,000 and boxloads of canned goods and other holiday items during the first annual “Street Turkeys” turkey drive.

    ROBERT L. JOHNSON ANNOUNCES ONE MILLION DOLLAR GIFT
    Robert L. Johnson, owner of the new Charlotte NBA expansion franchise and the Charlotte Sting of the WNBA, announced a gift of one million dollars to benefit the West Boulevard YMCA. The donation will be used for a new YMCA on the corner of Donald Ross Road and West Boulevard.
