YMCA Book Bash
On Saturday, August 14, 2004, Bobcats mascot Rufus Lynx visited the Gateway Village YMCA Book Bash. Nearly one thousand children lined up to get new books, book bags and school supplies for the 2004-2005 school year. The Bobcats donated 1,000 Bobcats pencils and 1,000 Bobcats notebooks for the kids.
There were games and live entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Children were invited from local downtown neighborhoods to participate in the Book Bash. Participants also had the opportunity to sign up for fall reading tutors.
