READING TIMEOUT AT CHARLOTTE NATURE MUSEUM
April 3, 2006 - Flying squirrels, snakes, snapping turtles, hissing cockroaches, walking sticks and Bobcats -- those were just a few of the creatures presented to 45 children from the Billingsville Elementary School Science Club as Emeka Okafor and Bobcats Dance Team member, Pam, hosted a Reading Timeout at the Charlotte Nature Museum.

March 13, 2006 - Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor, author Kimberly P. Johnson and Clifford the Big Red Dog hosted a Reading Timeout at Irwin Avenue Elementary in conjunction with Scholastic.
BOBCATS HAVE A BUSY DAY IN THE COMMUNITY
March 10, 2006 - The Bobcats had a busy day in the community on Friday, March 10, as select players visited the Metro School and the Dixon Academy to spread a little to joy to the students in attendance at their selected events.
ART AND ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS RECOGNIZED
February 10, 2006 - The Bobcats recognized 19 student winners of the Cool School Art and Essay Contest, presented by Harris Teeter, on February 10 at halftime of the team’s game against Toronto at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The winners will also were treated to a pregame reception with Bobcats players.
BOBCATS DAY AT MYERS PARK ELEMENTARY
February 9, 2006 - It was a day to celebrate as the students at Myers Park Elementary School were recognized for all that they had achieved. To help reward them for their accomplishments, the Charlotte Bobcats and Sting hosted Bobcats/Sting Day at their school.
BOBCATS PRESENT HARRIS TEETER MILK CHALLENGE
January 30, 2006 - The Bobcats have partnered with Harris Teeter to present Charlotte-area elementary and middle schools with an added bonus for participating in the Harris Teeter Milk Challenge contest.
BOBCATS UNVEIL NEWEST READING CORNER
January 26, 2006 - Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor and Mascot Rufus Lynx, along with Sting guard Helen Darling and Head Coach Muggsy Bogues dropped by Reid Park Elementary on Thursday, January 26 to help reveal the Bobcats newest reading corner to the students. They also helped christen the corner by hosting a Read To Achieve Time-out presented by Discovery Place for all the third graders in the school.
CARROLL TAKES THE STAGE TO READ
December 16, 2005 - As part of the Bobcats ongoing 2005 Season of Giving, guard Matt Carroll was onhand to read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas at the opening of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular -- featuring the Rockettes -- show on December 16, 2005.
BOBCATS SERVE UP HOOPS AND HOPE
November 22, 2005 - All the makings of a Thanksgiving feast were on hand, Monday, November 21, as the Bobcats teamed with Maggiano’s Restaurant to host the Hoops and Hope Dinner.
FALL FESTIVAL READING TIME OUT
October 25, 2005 - Six Bobcats players gathered among bales of hay and pumpkins at Charlotte Bobcats Arena to share an important message and have a good time with the students from Trinity Episcopal School.
COOL SCHOOL FIELD TRIP
October 17, 2005 - The 15,496 students and chaperones from public and private schools in North and South Carolina in attendance at the second annual "Cool School Field Trip" had a blast watching the Bobcats defeat Atlanta, 94-88.
BOBCATS READ TO AFTER-SCHOOL STUDENTS
April 14, 2005 - Bobcats players and members of the Bobcats Dance Team hosted a Reading Timeout with the kids in the Thomasboro Elementary School after-school program. Mascot Rufus was also on hand for the fun.
BOBCATS CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS' BIRTHDAY
March 22, 2005 - Bobcats players Matt Carroll, Jason Kapono, Brevin Knight and Kareem Rush, as well as mascot Rufus Lynx, joined 60 children at Beatties Ford Road Library to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with a Read To Achieve Reading Timeout.

January 13, 2005 - Bobcats players Keith Bogans and Jahidi White hosted a Read To Achieve Timeout at Westerly Hills Elementary School to help students learn about the impact that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had on our nation.

October 18-26, 2004 - Commemorating Read to Achieve Week, the Bobcats teamed with area schools, community organizations and the YMCA of Greater Charlotte to promote the life-long love of reading.
INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY
September 8, 2004 - The Bobcats, along with Charlotte Reads, hosted an “International Literacy Day Reading Timeout” on September 8, 2004, at the First Ward Recreation Center. Over 250 four and five-year-old children attended the International Literacy Day Celebration.
OLYMPIC READING TIME OUT
August 13, 2004 - The Bobcats celebrated Opening Day of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games with an Olympic-themed Reading Timeout at the First Ward Center Gymnasium. Approximately 300 children from the Uptown YMCA, McCrory YMCA and West Boulevard YMCA Summer Camps participated in the event along with Bobcats assistant coaches Gary Kloppenburg and John Outlaw.
BOBCATS BEACH BLAST READING TIME OUT
July 28, 2004 - Three members of the Charlotte Bobcats Dance Team -- Tasha, Rashawn and Callie -- and mascot Rufus Lynx celebrated summertime at Ray’s Splash Planet on July 28, 2004. The dance team members read two books to kids from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department Summer Camps.

June 24, 2004 - Emeka Okafor takes time for a Read to Achieve Event at the Dunleavy Milbank Center in Harlem, New York on June 24, 2004 before being selected by the Bobcats with the second overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft.
EARTH DAY READING TIME OUT
April 22, 2004 - The Charlotte Bobcats teamed up with the Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia, NC to celebrate Earth Day 2004. On April 22, children from the West Gastonia, Gastonia and Bessemer City Boys and Girls Club enjoyed hearing nature stories read to them by Dell Curry (Bobcats Director of Basketball Relations), LaRita Barber (Bobcats Vice President of Community Relations), and Jennifer Stultz (the Mayor of Gastonia).
BOBCATS CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS' BIRTHDAY IN STYLE
March 2, 2004 - The Bobcats hosted a Reading Time Out on March 2 at Trinity Episcopal School as part of Read Across America Day. Bobcats Director of Basketball Relations Dell Curry, mascot Rufus Lynx and WJZY-TV personality Jeff Johnson entertained a group of approximately 160 kids with their reading of the book “The Cat in the Hat".
