Meet The Team Event For Kids Club Members

March 11, 2007

The Bobcats Kids Club held a two-hour social and autograph signing on Friday at the Presbyterian Hospital Training Facility at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The event drew nearly 125 children who enjoyed an array of activities, including dinner, autographs and a group photograph with the team.

Charlotte is committed to building its next generation fan base through marketing ventures such as the Bobcats Kids Club. The club requires a $19.95 fee and benefits include an exclusive backpack, T-shirt, rights to exclusive autograph signings, a 10-percent discount at The Team Store and discounted tickets to 12 home games.

The children and accompanying parents first enjoyed a complimentary dinner, including chicken nuggets and hot dogs.

The kids were then handed a large Bobcats logo, which served as ideal place for players signatures. The Kids Club members went through the line and interacted with each and every player at their respective desks.

“He’s been wondering who they all were the whole season so for him, part of the allure is to see how big they really are,” said Cole Vahey, Sr., father of six-year-old Cole Vahey, Jr. “He thoroughly enjoyed it, and when he enjoys it, I enjoy it.”

Rookie Adam Morrison was unable to attend because of a time conflict surrounding hosting an hour-long diabetes clinic on the main arena court (link).

After the players, many who stayed beyond the required 30-minute session, left the children separated into eight groups, with one group at each goal. Basketball games then commenced and lasted until approximately 8 p.m.

“She had a wonderful time,” said Monique Ferguson, mother of five-year-old Shania McCoy. “Overall, it was a great event and I hope they continue to have these events in the future. For $19.95, to see a smile like this on your kids face, it’s priceless.”
