Bobcats Help Youth Celebrate The Holidays

The Bobcats celebrated the holidays on Monday, December 20 with a party for over 125 children at Extravaganza Depot in Charlotte. Ranging from 5 to 16 years old, the children came from different areas across the Charlotte region.

Bobcats players Kareem Rush, Jason Hart, Tamar Slay, Bernard Robinson and Theron Smith, as well as Bobcats assistant coach John-Blair Bickerstaff, helped entertain the kids by signing autographs, decorating cookies and building paper-plate snowmen. Mascot Rufus Lynx surprised everyone with a special appearance.

A holiday meal including meatballs, pizza rolls and chicken wings was provided for everyone, along with a personalized gift and Bobcats goody bag with team merchandise. The children's gifts, donated by the Bobcats, Sting, C-SET and New Charlotte Arena staff, varied from DVD’s to skateboards to action figures to CD players.

At the end of the party, the Bobcats players and the special guest of the evening, Santa Claus, handed out all the presents to the children. Television personality Jeff Johnson from WJZY emceed the event and DJ Bobcat played Christmas tunes all night!

The Bobcats Holiday Party, along with the first-ever Hoops and Hope Dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy and Street Turkeys 2004, is part of the Bobcats' Season Of Giving - the team's attempt to help as many organizations and members of the Charlotte community as possible during the holiday season.
