D.E.A.R. Charlotte Day

The first annual D.E.A.R. Charlotte Day was held on June 10, 2004. D.E.A.R. stands for "Drop Everything And Read." At noon, people all over Charlotte were asked to "drop everything and read." Rufus was on-hand at Founders Hall in Uptown Charlotte to sign autographs and give hugs to all the kids participating in the festivities.

D.E.A.R. Day is a collaboration between Charlotte Reads and the Mecklenburg County Public Library. There were book and magazine giveaways, reading circles, and summer reading sign-ups at all D.E.A.R. sites.
