Carroll Makes a Special Appearance
Bobcats guard Matt Carroll made a special appearance this weekend at the NWBA Tournament at Providence Day School as the Charlotte Rollin' Bobcats opened their season with the second annual Charlotte Shootout wheelchair basketball tournament.
The Charlotte Rollin' Bobcats NWBA D2 team finished third in the tournament, posting a 3-2 overall record. The Rollin’ Bobcats entered the tournament undefeated at 5-0 after winning the Shepherd Center tournament in Atlanta in the first week in November.
The Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks, NWBA national D2 finalists last season, won the tournament, while the Indiana Wheelchair Pacers, Florida Force, Virginia Beach Sunwheelers, and the Siskin Rebounders from Chattanooga competed in the two-day tournament.
The Rollin' Bobcats D2 team made it to the regional final in 2005, and all of the teams in the tournament are considered Top 20 contenders for the title this year.
The National Wheelchair Basketball Association was founded in 1948, only one year after the NBA. The Rollin' Bobcats are two-time NWBA Division II National Champions.
