The Carolinas are not just a breeding ground for the game’s top players. Several championships have been won by colleges and universities in the region and it’s not often that top contenders don’t include a member of the Carolinas. A college team from the area was in the NCAA title game for five straight years in the early 1990s with championships in three of those five seasons.
