Head Coach Sam Vincent
I’m thankful for everything. I’m thankful to be alive. I’m thankful to have a family that’s very supportive. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here as the head coach and to be working with such a great group of guys. I’m just thankful for the many wonderful things that happen in the course of a day that you rarely take time to be thankful for.
It’s great that we’re going to be able to spend some time with our families. The back-to-back situations are really tough on us, and the scheduling has just been tough. My family will be in town, so it will be nice to be able to spend some time with them. It’s nice just to kind of be settled and even though we’re not going to get the whole holiday in, we’re going to have some time to be with family and friends. After that, it’s time to get down to Orlando and see if we can’t pull off a little trickery.
Guard Derek Anderson
I just that God that he saved me. He saved a lot of people’s lives from staying in poverty and things like that, so I’m very thankful.
Guard Matt Carroll
The thing I’m most thankful for and will always be most thankful for is my family. I have a wonderful family – great parents, brother and sister, wonderful wife and extended family – and that’s what I’m most thankful for. Another thing is that as a kid, my biggest passion was basketball. I grew up playing basketball, and now to be able to still play basketball, make a living doing it and to play in the NBA is really just a privilege, an honor and a dream come true.
My immediate family is coming down – my mom, dad and sister, but not my brother because he’s playing over in Spain. We might have a few more invitees too, and I’m looking forward to it. I’m not cooking – Melanie (Matt’s wife) is cooking. That’s her big day.
Guard/Forward Jared Dudley
I’m thankful for my family and my health. My mom is in town, and my dad was around last week, so any time I get to see my family and be around them is great. You’re never promised tomorrow, so I’m thankful for that time with them. It’s a perfect situation – my mom will be cooking late tonight and early tomorrow morning, so I’ll get the chance to eat early before I get on the plane and get that good sleep in after the meal.
Forward/Center Jermareo Davidson
I’m just thankful for another day of life – just making it as far as I have this year after what was a tough year. I’m making it through and still going strong right now. It’s been hard to enjoy the holidays, but I’m still thankful for them. It helps a lot to be around my teammates because they keep my mind off everything, so I try to be around them as much as possible.
Guard Raymond Felton
I’m just thankful to be here for another Thanksgiving – to be with my family and all my loved ones. That’s what it is all about. I’m going to invite some of the guys over who don’t have family in town if they want to come over to the house to eat some Thanksgiving dinner before we have to catch the flight. To have that morning and afternoon before we fly out is great for that reason. I haven’t told anybody yet but am going to tell everybody after the game (against Washington on Wednesday). After we get this W tonight, everybody’s going to be welcome.
Forward/Center Othella Harrington
I’m just happy for my health. Everything is a blessing. There are so many people who aren’t doing good, and then you’ve got the troops over in Iraq, and their families are struggling back home. I’m also thankful to be doing what I love to do. It’s a great holiday, but every day is a blessing to me, and every day should be Thanksgiving.
Center Ryan Hollins
I’m thankful for my health and my family – just having good people around me that can really support me and help me through the good times and the bad times. I’m also thankful for the opportunity to wake up each day and be healthy enough to take advantage of the opportunity we have because of the skills we’ve been blessed with.
Guard Jeff McInnis
I’m thankful to still be in the NBA after all the stuff I’ve been through. I’m blessed to be able to play basketball and be able to support my family on Thanksgiving. It’s going to be a great Thanksgiving, and I’m also thankful to be able to be around my family. It will be great, because I’ll finally be able to eat my mom’s cooking here at home, and she won’t have to come on the road and try to piece something together. We have to fly out that night, but I’ll have some good plates to take on the road with me.
Forward/Center Emeka Okafor
I’m thankful for everything. I have a good family and good health – everything is good.
Guard Jason Richardson
I’m just thankful that I have a healthy family, especially after the birth of my son. I’m going to have a visit from my family, so all my family and friends will be around and I’m thankful for that. We’ll get a few hours with the family before the flight out to Orlando, so we’ll get to spend some time, watch the football games, eat some turkey – but not too much – and get ready for Orlando.
Forward Gerald Wallace
I’m most thankful for my health and my family. Those are the two things I always want to be thankful for. My good healthy has allowed me to play the game that I love to play, and I have my family for support. Those are the two main things I’m thankful for every year.
