Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) and the Charlotte Bobcats announced that the Bobcats will host and cover the costs for three high school graduation ceremonies at Charlotte Bobcats Arena June 12, 13 and 14, 2006 as a pilot graduation program between the two organizations.

The City of Charlotte and the Bobcats officially opened Charlotte Bobcats Arena on Thursday with a ceremonial ribbon cutting to tip off the grand opening weekend celebration. Bobcats Majority Owner Bob Johnson and Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory were among those in attendance to help cut the ribbon on the new arena.

Julian Senior Vice President of Arena Operations for the Charlotte Bobcats Arena, it was announced by Barry Silberman, Executive Vice President of Arena Development, Operations and Entertainment. Julian will be responsible for facilitating event operations and event management duties for the new arena, which will be managed by the Bobcats organization and is scheduled to open in November of 2005.

The NBA expansion franchise Charlotte Bobcats held their inaugural season opener Nov. 4, 2004, with a sell-out crowd of 23,319, including Grammy Award Winning Artist Nelly. Charlotte Bobcats Provide Priority to former NBA Season Ticket Holders
Former Charlotte Hornets season ticket holders of record will have priority seat selection for the Charlotte Bobcats 2004-2005 inaugural season at the Charlotte Coliseum, and 2001-2002 season ticket holders from the Charlotte Hornets final season at the Coliseum will be able to reclaim their exact seat locations. The announcement was made today by Ed Tapscott, Bobcats executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Construction On New Uptown Arena Begins After Groundblasting
Let the construction begin. While the games in Charlotte's new Uptown Arena will begin in October 2005, the building of the facility officially started on July 29th, 2003. Charlotte Bobcats and Sting owner Robert L. Johnson, Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, Charlotte Sting co-captains Andrea Stinson and Dawn Staley and members of the Charlotte City Council officially commenced construction of the facility with a ceremonial groundblast on the site.
