Morrison and Felton Selected For T-Mobile Rookie Challenge

Bobcats guards Adam Morrison and Raymond Felton were selected to play in the 2007 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on Friday, February 16, during NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas. The game, which pits the stars of the 2006-07 rookie class against the NBA’s top second-year players, will be played at the Thomas and Mack Center and televised live nationally on TNT at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Morrison is averaging 13.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.6 minutes. He is ranked second among NBA rookies in scoring and first in minutes played. Morrison also posted the highest single-game point total for a rookie with 30 points at Indiana on December 30, 2006. In addition, he was named Eastern Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month in November after averaging 15.3 points and 2.1 assists in 15 games.

Felton is averaging 14.1 points, 7.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 37.9 minutes. He is currently ranked 10th in the NBA in assists and 16th in the league in steals. Among second-year players, Felton is ranked fourth in points, third in assists, second in steals and first in minutes played. He also ranks sixth with seven double-doubles.

Morrison will be joined on the rookie team by Andrea Bargnani and Jorge Garbajosa (Toronto), Jordan Farmar (L.A. Lakers), Randy Foye (Minnesota), Rudy Gay (Memphis), Paul Millsap (Utah), Brandon Roy (Portland) and Marcus Williams (New Jersey).

Felton will be joined on the sophomore team by Andrew Bogut (Milwaukee), Andrew Bynum (L.A. Lakers), Monta Ellis (Golden State), Danny Granger (Indiana), Luther Head (Houston), David Lee (New York), Chris Paul (New Orleans/Oklahoma City) and Deron Williams (Utah).

The participants in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam were selected by the NBA’s assistant coaches with each team submitting one ballot. If a rookie or second-year player is selected to play in the All-Star Game on Sunday, he will also play in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge on Friday evening.
