Four Bobcats On 2008 All-Star Ballot

Bobcats fans will have the chance for four of their favorite players to participate in the 2008 NBA All-Star Game. Bobcats center Emeka Okafor, forward Gerald Wallace and guards Jason Richardson and Raymond Felton were selected to appear on this year’s All-Star ballot.

Balloting for the 57th NBA All-Star Game presented by T-Mobile begins today. The 2008 NBA All-Star Game, which will air live on TNT and ESPN Radio in the U.S., and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, will be held at New Orleans Arena on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008.

Gerald Wallace currently leads the Bobcats with an average of 17.6 points and has chipped in 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.63 steals, 0.63 blocks while helping get the Bobcats off to their best start in franchise history at 4-4.

Jason Richardson follows Wallace with 16.4 points, and has kept pace with G-Force in rebounds (5.5), assists (2.1) and steals (1.63). He has also knocked down a team-high 19 three pointers and is connecting on 42.2 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.

Emeka Okafor is currently ranked third in the NBA with six double-doubles in his first eight games, seventh in the league with an average of 12.1 rebounds and is making an early case to be on the All-Defense Team with 1.75 steals (17th in NBA) and 1.75 blocks (19th) in eight games. He also ranks fourth on the team with an average of 12.5 points.

Raymond Felton has excelled in his first full season at the reigns of the offense despite missing one game and a portion of another after suffering a knee injury early on against the Suns. He ranks first on the team in assists (6.3), is third in scoring (16.0 points) and is the team’s most accurate three-point shooter, connecting on 44.4 percent of his shots from long range. He’s also bringing down three rebounds from the point and swiping 1.57 steals.

The 2008 NBA All-Star Balloting program, which also includes partners 2K Sports and GameStop, allows fans around the world to vote daily for their favorite players as starters for the All-Star Game in a variety of ways, including: at each NBA arena; in 20 languages on NBA.com; at more than 1,500 T-Mobile-owned retail locations with custom T-Mobile All-Star ballots and ballot boxes; and through mobile phones at t-zones on T-Mobile phones or wap.nba.com for any wireless carrier. For the first time, an All-Star Balloting widget will be available on NBA.com. Fans can "grab" the widget and place it on their blogs, social network pages, or personal websites allowing others to vote directly from the widget. Select NBA arenas will also carry a Spanish-language version of the ballot. Voting will continue through Jan. 13, for paper balloting and Jan. 20, for NBA.com balloting.

One hundred twenty players – 60 each from the Eastern and Western conferences – are listed on the NBA All-Star ballot, with 24 guards, 24 forwards and 12 centers from each conference comprising the list. Voters select two guards, two forwards and one center from each conference.
