The Bobcats have added another inside presence for the 2005-06 season, acquiring forward/center Jake Voskuhl from Phoenix in exchange for a conditional 2007 second round draft pick.

“Jake is the type of player that fits into our system with his versatility and ability to play on both ends of the floor,” said General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff. “His experience will be valuable to our younger post players.”

Voskuhl appeared in 38 games for the Suns last season, averaging 2.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 9.5 minutes. He recorded a season-high 10 rebounds against Atlanta on November 3, 2004 and played a season-high 30 minutes against Memphis on January 19, 2005. Voskuhl’s best season in the NBA came during the 2003-04 season in Phoenix, when he averaged 6.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 24.3 minutes.

The 6-11, 255-pound center was selected by Chicago with the 33rd overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft and has appeared in 244 career games with averages of 4.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 16.2 minutes. He has also connected on .526 from the field and .717 from the free throw line between his four-year stint in Phoenix and Chicago.

A former standout at the University of Connecticut, Voskuhl was a starter on the Huskies 1999 NCAA Championship team.
