(On the workout)
It was great workout. It was my second time going against Andre (Drummond), so it was a good challenge.
(On the workout being tiring)
You’re supposed to get tired; that’s the point of the workout, to see if you can still play when you’re tired. I think I handled it pretty well besides the couple shots I missed but overall it was a good workout.
(On the strengths he thinks he will bring to the NBA)
I just keep going after it, not taking off any possessions off and going after every rebound.
(On coming to Charlotte potentially)
I love it, I love it.
(On what makes Charlotte an attractive team)
The potential. The Bobcats have a young point guard in Kemba (Walker) and I would love to play with him. They also have a bunch of young players surrounding him, and I think they need a couple more players to get over that hump. I’m willing to be one of those players.
(On how up-tempo the workout was)
Yes, it was up-tempo but Kemba is one of the fastest guards in the league, so you have to play fast. I’m able to get out and run, so I don’t mind.
(On where he’s worked out so far)
Washington, Cleveland and this will be my last stop.
(On working out against Andre Drummond)
It’s great. We’re both competitive and battling for a job. We’re friends off the court but we’re trying to take each other’s heads off when we’re on the court.
(On the things he can do that may be knocks against him)
I’m more offensively skilled than people think. I can learn the pace of the game and I still have potential as a player. I feel I have a high ceiling and I’m not nearly complete as a player.
(On the skills he possesses that people didn’t see at Kansas)
I think I’m better off the dribble than people think and my shot has gotten better since the season has been over. I’m also learning to read the defense better than I have before. I’m learning the different paces of the game and that’s helping me also.
(On how he would fit in with the Bobcats’ roster)
I think I would fit in perfectly; the up-tempo game fits me. I can also play in the half court, coming from Kansas. Me being as athletic as I am I would be able to run with Kemba.
(On whether he prefers a workout with Andre Drummond)
Definitely, it brings the best out of me. If I’m battling for a job then I want to feel like I earned it. So if he’s the other top player then that’s who I want to go up against.
(On being a young leader)
I feel like age is but a number. Of course I don’t know everything but I still know right from wrong; if I see wrong happen then I’m going to say something about it, no matter how old I am.
Andre Drummond • 6-10 • 270 lbs. • Center • Connecticut
(On the workout)
Good, it was good day.
(On what he’s trying to showcase at the workout)
That I run the floor hard, play hard, grab rebounds and block shots. Offense will come to me.
(On the three-on-three full court drill)
It was something new because I’ve never played three-on-three full court before. In transition, we only had three dribbles and we had to pass it to the coach to bring the ball up the court for us, so we had to keep moving constantly. Overall it was a good day for me and for the rest of the guys.
(On getting a good sweat from the workout)
Definitely. You can see my T-shirt now; it’s soaking wet (laughter). We got a good workout today.
(On working out with Thomas Robinson)
It’s great. You can see we’re cool and smiling in each other’s face, but on the court we go at each other and try to make each other better. That’s what two great competitors do, off the court we’re great friends but on the court we just compete and play as hard as we can.
(On where he has worked out at)
Sacramento, Cleveland, Portland and here.
(On where he feels he might get drafted)
No, I’m just working out and where ever my cards fall is where I’m going to work my hardest.
(On what he has planned after the Bobcats workout)
I’m just going home, taking care of my body and getting ready for the draft.
