The Bobcats had another of their 2009 NBA Draft workouts on Monday at the Presbyterian Hospital Training Center in Time Warner Cable Arena. Duke's Gerald Henderson, Louisville's Terrence Williams, Memphis' Antonio Anderson, Temple's Dionte Christmas and LSU's Garrett Temple were all back for second workouts, while Jermaine Taylor had his first workout for Head Coach Larry Brown and his staff.
Gerald Henderson is an early entry candidate for the 2009 NBA Draft after earning Third Team All-America honors by the Associated Press following his junior season. He was also named to the John Wooden Award All-America Team and All-ACC First Team. Henderson finished his three-year career ranked 20th all-time in Blue Devils history in blocks (69) and 39th all-time in points (1,262). He led his team in scoring (16.5 ppg) while ranking second in rebounding (4.9 rpg), assists (2.5 apg), and field-goal percentage (.450), and third in steals (1.2 spg).
Terrence Williams is the only player in Louisville history to total 1,500 points, 900 rebounds, 500 assists and 200 steals. He ranks 18th in school history in points (1,564), second in assists (541), seventh in rebounding (966), fourth in three-point field goals made (195), fifth in steals (210) and second in minutes played (4,486). As a senior, he was named First Team All-Big East, Third Team AP All-America and led his team to the Big East Tournament Championship.
Antonio Anderson was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and Conference USA Tournament MVP as a junior. He earned league All-Defensive Team honors his sophomore, junior season and senior seasons. Anderson was the first player in Tiger basketball history to finish with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. He started all 37 games in 2008-09, leading the team in minutes (1,269) and assists (166) and was named to the All-Conference USA Second Team after finishing fourth on the team in scoring (10.2 ppg) and rebounding (4.8 rg), and second in steals (53).
Dionte Christmas had an outstanding career at Temple where he was named to the Atlantic 10’s First Team after both his junior and senior seasons, and was a Second Team pick after his sophomore season. He led the conference in scoring during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, becoming the first player in conference history to lead the Atlantic 10 in scoring in three seasons. Christmas led his team to the NCAA tournament in both his junior and senior seasons. He finished his career with 2,043 points, becoming Temple’s fourth player to pass 2,000 points.
Jermaine Taylor's 1,979 points rank third all-time at UCF and fourth on the C-USA career register. He averaged 16.2 points during career and made a school-record 251 3-pointers. Taylor was named the Conference USA Player of the Year and earned All-C-USA First Team honors in his senior season. He also ranked third nationally in scoring (26.2 ppg) and set a C-USA single-season record by scoring 466 points and averaging 29.1 points against league opponents.
Garrett Temple became the all-time leader in minutes played at LSU during his senior season (4,432). He is one of nine players all-time at LSU to play on two SEC championship teams. Temple finished fifth in the league in assists and steals and was one of three players in the league to have a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio last season. He finished his career ranking fourth in assists (482), seventh in steals (191), and fourth in blocks (113), and was a starter on the 2006 NCAA Final Four team.

(On Henderson and Williams’s similarities/differences)
Well, they are both unbelievable athletes. Both were really well coached, both are highly competitive and both will be in the league without question. The difference I see I think Gerald, in my mind, I could be wrong, is a stone two. I think he is going to have that position and be comfortable in that position for a long time. I think he is not as far along in terms of his best ball. I don’t think he’s even come close to what he is capable of doing. Terrence can play more than one position. I think he is a little bigger and stronger right now. I think he is like a point forward in some regards. He can play two or three equally comfortable. I believe he will bring the ball down against the press against some teams. They are both lottery picks in my mind without question, and I think they are both going to have really long NBA careers and be very, very productive. They’ll both get better and that’s not saying they aren’t good now.
(On the chances of both players being there for the 12th pick)
I don’t know. I don’t want to get into that. But I think we’d be lucky to have either one of them, obviously. But I would feel that there are 11 teams drafting in front of us that have gotten to see them, and I’m sure they’re evaluation is the same as mine.

(On the workout)
It was pretty much the same stuff we did the first time. Coach wanted to see how we improved on the stuff we worked on and how we would compete against each other.
(On being back for a second workout)
Not a huge surprise. I knew certain teams like to bring guys back and see them again right before the draft and that’s always a good sign. It was fun coming back for sure.
(On working out with Terrence)
It was cool. We did a lot of drills. More individual stuff, we didn’t play (against each other) as much. It was still good, Terrence is a good player. This is my second workout against him so we’re getting used to each other.
(On what he has learned about his game throughout the workouts)
I’ve gotten a lot better at my shooting and my ball handling. Just having to be in the gym every day, whether it be a workout with a team or inbetween workouts, just being with a basketball working with my skills everyday, I feel more crisp and sharper with the things I’m doing and I’m just getting better.
(On ending workouts and getting excited for Thursday)
Well I have one more workout in New Jersey tomorrow, they called me back as well. I’ll definitely try to finish that strong but am really looking forward to Thursday - it should be a fun night.
(On teams picking between him and Terrence)
I don’t know who they are considering. I know they need some depth at the shooting guard position, but there are a lot of good shooting guards in this draft. Depending on who is around at their pick, they’ll make the right decision. In terms of myself, it would be great to play here, so we’ll just see what happens on Thursday.
(On what he thinks he will do best as a pro)
They are a few good things I do well. First off, I think just defensively I think I can bring a presence, really defend someone around the perimeter. Coach Brown was teaching that all workout so I think I can bring that to the Bobcats.
(On having Michael Jordan at the workout)
No real added pressure. It’s pretty cool to see a legend in here watching us work out, but you just try to go about your business, pay attention to what Coach Brown is talking about and just do what you do. He’s talking all that Carolina mess and said he has his old Tarheel shorts underneath his jeans, and that if he took them off I’d be scared to death.
(On being a blue devil in UNC territory)
Yeah this is definitely Carolina territory in Charlotte. But its cool and I can give it back to him, so its cool.

(On today’s workout)
I think it was better than my first because I knew what to expect. They wanted to see if I learned from my first workout and I did. I did everything on a positive note this time, so I think it was better than my first.
(On coming back for a second time)
They kind of told me in my interview that Mr. (Michael) Jordan was going to be in town, so they wanted me to come back. It was an honor to be in the same city as Jordan, let alone the same gym.
(On the added pressure of Michael Jordan watching)
Too much pressure - I’m sweating when we're doing stretching because he is over there sitting down. It was good these last 10 minutes because we got to talk to him so it was great. But it's not really a reality to me that I’m in the same gym as the greatest.
(On advice from Michael Jordan)
He said he loves how I play; you know I pass the ball a lot, defense, shooting the ball - which is a first. He didn’t know that my hands were that big, my hands are the same size as his. It’s a blessing to talk to him.
(On hand size)
We had to do a test, they put the ball on the table and you have to pick the ball up and palm it, go to your left and then go to your right and do it with both hands. Its called the Michael Jordan test, it's to see how big your hands are. I’m glad I was blessed with big hands, I can do that easily.
(Matching up against Gerald Henderson)
Once again, I think I did better than my last workout here. I think it was a great showing; the draft is three days away. Hopefully I’m a Bobcat to be honest with you. This is my second one working out with him, we did Minnesota together and we are supposed to go to New Jersey tomorrow. I think it’s just me and him - I hope it's not, but I think it is. It's just fun - you are trying to work out for a team that picks 11th and the team that picks 12th, so at the end of the day it's good numbers to go and great teams to go to, and there are a lot of guys who would like to play under Jordan.
(On the Bobcats drafting him or Gerald)
There are sources that say that (he and Henderson could go 11 and 12 to New Jersey and Charlotte). It's just an honor to be mentioned with those teams at those positions instead of 20-something or 30-something. At the end of the day, it's just basketball, but it’s still a dream to have your name called in these three days.
(On what he does best)
Playing basketball. And what I mean by that is defense, rebounding, assists. Cheering your teammates on, having fun, I think I do all those well. There are some things you need to tune up and get better as far as consistently shooting and stuff like that, but that comes with the game and those are things that I will learn and get better at.
