(RIP) CITY EDITION

Coined by Bill Schonely in our first season, Rip City has grown to represent the spirit of our fans and culture of the region.

THE PLAID PATTERN

The tone-on-tone black plaid pattern is a subtle nod to our 1977 championship coach Dr. Jack Ramsay and his unique plaid wardrobe. It is also a tribute to the Northwest, where trend-setting plaid fashion has been featured throughout the decades ranging from lumberjacks to the grunge revolution to hikers and now hipsters.

THE PORTLAND FLAG

The city flag was created by a respected local design professor in 1969 and officially adopted by Portland City Council in 1970 (the same year the Trail Blazers were founded).

The flag (in full color) represents the forest that surrounds the city, the intersection of major rivers, local agriculture and city center.

RED ACCENTS

The Portland city flag is re-invented in a black tone-on-tone design adorned on the waistband and influences the bold red embellishments on the sides of the jersey and shorts.
