Senior Vice President, People & Culture
Sarah Petrone, Senior Vice President of People & Culture, begins her fourth season with the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter in 2016-17. From Portland, Petrone joined the team in June 2013 after serving as Head of Human Resources, People and Culture for the North America Region of Denmark-based Vestas Wind Technology. Petrone worked out of the company’s Portland offices and managed all Human Resources operations for its North American Sales, Technology and Manufacturing divisions. Petrone’s path to the Trail Blazers also included positions as an HR Consultant for Genentech in Hillsboro, Manager of Human Resources, Training and Development for A-dec, Inc. in Newberg, and regional employee relations and training assignments for Hollywood Entertainment, Inc. in Wilsonville. Petrone was named to the Portland Business Journal’s 2015 Forty Under 40 listing, honoring a select group of leaders under the age of 40 for their professional accomplishments and contributions to the community. She served as the lead reference in the Sports Business Journal’s 2014 article exploring the effects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on professional sports teams. Petrone earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration at Marylhurst after graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication at Oregon State. She is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) as administered nationally by the HR Certification Institute. This past year, Petrone served as the Go Red Chair for Portland and led the Executive Leadership Team for Go Red for Women. She has also been a board member of the Portland Community College Foundation for the past seven years, promoting education and access to the Portland community. Married to Donald Rose, a Portland Public Schools teacher, Petrone is the mother of two children.
