In 1960, Terry was part of the gold medal winning Olympic basketball team that included Hall of Famers Walt Bellamy, Jerry Lucas, Oscar Robertson and Jerry West. In 1962, Terry was selected by the Chicago Zephyrs and went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award averaging 25.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Terry played nine NBA seasons and earned three NBA All-Star selections before retiring as a Trail Blazer in 1973. Following his retirement, Dischinger completed dental school in Memphis, Tennessee, and returned to Portland to begin an orthodontic practice.
