Damian Lillard vs. Goran Dragic

Nine NBA players are averaging at least 20 points and five assists this season. As you might expect, some are among the elite point guards in the game: Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving. Others are some of the league’s best scorers who can also make plays for their teammates: Kevin Durant, LeBron James and James Harden. And two others are point guards who might just be headed in the direction of the former group of elite point guards in a league with no shortage of such players: Damian Lillard and Goran Dragic. The Trail Blazers point guard is actually one of only four NBA players who have scored at least 1,600 points while dishing 400-plus assists this season, joining the aforementioned greats Curry, Durant and James. Phoenix’s signal caller isn’t far behind, with 1,450 points and 423 assists to his name. But efficiency is the real name of Dragic’s game. He is second among NBA guards in field goal shooting (50.9%) and 11th in 3-point percentage (41.6%). And the Slovenian guard in the middle of a career season has been doing some of his best work against the Trail Blazers, when he’s averaged 23.7 points and shot 52.9% from the floor in three contests this season. Fortunately for Portland, Lillard likes the look of the Phoenix defense as well. In six career games against the Suns, he has scored 22.0 points while connecting on 44.4% of his 3-point attempts.
