PORTLAND, Ore. (Oct. 29, 2013) – Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews is partnering with Fred Meyer for his fourth annual coat drive, benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing the tradition of providing warm coats for youth in Portland,” said Matthews. “With Fred Meyer as a partner, this has become an incredibly successful annual event thanks to the generosity of this community.”

On Monday, Nov. 4, Matthews will host local Boys & Girls Club youth in selecting coats for the drive and themselves at the Gateway Fred Meyer (1111 NE 102nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97220) from 3-4 p.m.

The coat drive also includes an opportunity for members of the community to meet Matthews at the Gateway Fred Meyer from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. At that time, fans are encouraged to bring coats for donation while Matthews holds an autograph session.

Over the past three years, Matthews and Fred Meyer have collected more than 2,500 coats for local youth and their families.

All Portland Metro-area Fred Meyer locations will accept new and gently used coats from Oct. 30-Nov. 17. In addition, fans are encouraged to donate coats at the Moda Center on Friday, Nov. 8 as Portland hosts Sacramento. Coats can be dropped off during ingress.
