Call Of The Game: Dame's Downtown Dagger

The voice of the Trail Blazers, Brian Wheeler, delivers the Call of the Game.

Coming into tonight's game Damian Lillard had dissected the Pelican's defense, averaging 29 points over the course of two previous contests. And through the first 42 minutes of the game, it appeared as if New Orleans finally solved their Lillard problem. Knowing the Trail Blazers were without LaMarcus Aldridge and Mo Williams, the Pelicans keyed in on the reigning Rookie of the Year and held Portland's point guard to just 11 points, on 3-for-12 shooting, midway through the fourth quarter. But Lillard caught fire and there was nothing their defense could do about it. From the 5:52 mark of the fourth through the end of the game, he didn't miss. Literally. Lillard poured in 16 points, on 5-for-5 shooting, including the game's clincher - a 25-footer that found nothing but net. Behind Lillard's team-high 27 points, the Trail Blazers ended their four-game losing streak by defeating the Pelicans 111-103.
