Call Of The Game: #3J McCollum

The voice of the Trail Blazers, Brian Wheeler, delivers the Call of the Game. With Mo Williams out (personal reasons), the Trail Blazers had two point guards on the roster in Damian Lillard and Earl Watson. When both got into foul trouble early on, Coach Terry Stotts called upon rookie CJ McCollum. One night after scoring nine points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting in Indianapolis, McCollum exuded the "next man up" mantra by scoring a career-high 19 points, including three 3-pointers - each one swinging momentum firmly in Portland's camp. None was bigger than the one he knocked down late in the third. Minnesota appeared to have taken control of the game as they were in the midst of a six to nothing run, extending their lead to five, before McCollum silenced the crowd. The Timberwolves sent a hard double team at LaMarcus Aldridge, but it was too late, as he spotted the rookie at the top of the key. And the rest, as they say, was history. Portland would go onto victory, defeating Minnesota 117-110.
