November 22, 2002

Blazers President and General Manager provided media interviews this afternoon to discuss the citations issued to Rasheed Wallace and Damon Stoudamire.

“First, it’s very disappointing even to talk about this,” Whitsitt said. “It’s disappointing and frustrating. I want the fans to know that our organization does not condone this type of behavior from our players, and if found to be guilty, the organization will take appropriate action."

“Rasheed and Damon feel they let everyone down,” Whitsitt said. “It’s always difficult for the players involved in these situations. They have to come out and be professional, they have to handle it and they have to give it all they’ve got.”

Whitsitt said he hoped fans would be able to look past this incident, "We are hopeful that Blazers fans will continue to hang in there with us and support the team. I know the players do care.”

Rasheed Wallace spoke to media saying he was sorry if fans were disapointed. "I'd like to apologize to my wife and my kids, my coach and my teammates."

Wallace continued, "I don't want this incident to be a distraction for Blazers fans and my team tomorrow. I know our fans care, and I want them to know the truth will come to light."

Damon Stoudamire sent a message directly to fans. "I want fans to know we're talking about this today because we don't want this to become a distraction to our teammates. We're very sorry that this happened and want to apologize to everyone out there."
