>>Launch Oden or Durant
On Wednesday, the Portland Trail Blazers will unveil a special “micro” website solely dedicated to the Greg Oden or Kevin Durant debate.
The site, which is created in Adobe Flash, will give fans the most dynamic web experience possible today with special behind the scenes looks and exclusive content involving the Trail Blazers 2007 NBA Draft selection process in which Portland holds the first pick.
“Since winning the NBA Draft Lottery it’s become clear with the high volume of web traffic that we’ve experienced on TrailBlazers.com that fans are very intrigued by the Oden or Durant debate and who the Trail Blazers should take with the first pick,” said Dan Harbison, Trail Blazers Internet marketing manager. “Our vision with this site is to create a one-stop shop on the World Wide Web for all things Oden and Durant.”
Both Oden and Durant will have their own individual players pages complete with stories, photos, video and links relating to each player. Fans will instantly access the Oden or Durant site simply by visiting TrailBlazers.com.
The micro site includes features that will allow fans to do the following:
Sign-up for up-to-the-minute news and information about the Trail Blazers #1 pick through a unique Web 2.0 application, Twitter.com, that delivers directly to desktops, cell phones or other mobile devices.
A special polling feature that will give fans the opportunity to vote for the player they think the Trail Blazers should take with the first pick in the NBA Draft.
Fans will have the ability to paste exclusive video previews into their own web sites and blogs including exclusive video from Oden and Durant’s pre-draft workouts in Portland.
Incorporating messages and opinions from fans through the Trail Blazers social networking site, www.iamatrailblazersfan.com. This was the first social network launched by a individual sports team and has over 5,000 passionate Trail Blazers fans who all have a profile page where they post opinions, images and connect to players and other fans in an authentic and engaging way.
The Trail Blazers partnered with Substance, a local digital brand strategy and interactive experience studio, to create the Oden or Durant micro site.
