Trail Blazers Select Victor Claver with 22nd Pick in 2009 NBA Draft
Spanish forward plays for Pamesa Valencia in ACB League
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Trail Blazers selected Spanish forward Victor Claver with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard.
Claver (pronounced cla-VER), spent the past three seasons in the Spanish ACB League playing for Pamesa Valencia, where he averaged 8.7 points and 2.7 rebounds.
A member of the Spanish Junior National Team, Claver averaged 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the 2008 U20 European Championship. He helped Spain take home the bronze medal in the 2006 U18 European Championship, averaging 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds.
Claver, 20, is listed at 6-9 and 224 lbs.
