The 2005 Rose Festival, a traditional month-long celebration, has begun. Like years past, the Portland Trail Blazers will be participating in the Rose Festival through different events. This year, the Trail Blazers will be involved in the Junior Parade, Grand Floral Parade and the Arts Festival.

Junior Parade – June 8

Grand Floral Parade – June 11

Travis Outlaw, former Trail Blazer players' and Blaze rode on a horse drawn wagon in this year’s Grand Floral Parade. As the signature event of the Rose Festival, the Grand Floral Parade is the second largest all-floral parade in North America and the largest, single-day spectator event in Oregon. An estimated 450,000 people lined up for the four-mile parade to see floats, bands and equestrian units.
Portland Arts Festival - June 17-19
The Portland Arts Festival, an open-air celebration of the arts, is the region’s largest and most significant visual arts event. The Arts Festival supports arts, youth, education and the environment and is expected to expose guests to 150 local and national visual artists in a unique and personal setting.
Down at the Park Blocks, the Trail Blazers hosted the Imagination Station, which was an interactive art tent for kids. Kids were able to do different art projects, build clay creations and paint on a mural.

The Trail Blazers also had a booth with artists from The Rental Sales Gallery of The Portland Art Museum. At the booth, the artists demonstrated their various techniques and forms. Also on display were some paintings done by a local artists of different players from the Trail Blazers.

The Rose Festival, a 98 year-old tradition, is made possible by the efforts of thousands of volunteers, including a 100-member board of directors. The month-long civic celebration hosts an estimated two million people each year and provides fun and entertainment for spectators of all ages. The Portland Rose Festival Association is a non-profit civic organization composed of professional businesses and individuals whose mission is to promote Portland and the entire state culturally, socially and economically by presenting this annual celebration of our community.
