Trail Blazers Look To Snap Losing Streak Against Sonics

By Devan Cook

The Portland Trail Blazers lost their 5th game in a row when they played the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. The slump began on a difficult road trip that included stops in Dallas and Houston, but the teams woes continued when they returned home.

Thursday the team plays their second game in a row at the Rose Garden, when they host rivals to the north the Seattle Supersonics. Portland, who has struggled all around since their impressive 13-game winning streak back in December, will be looking to snap their losing streak and start a new streak of wins.

The two teams last met in a Christmas Day battle where Portland Prevailed. The Trail Blazers outscored Seattle 89-79 in that home match-up. Roy and Jack teamed up with 17 points a piece, and Pryzbilla had 16 rebounds, factors Seattle isn't likely to forget. That means Portland can expect double teaming on Roy, which means it will be crucial for LaMarcus Aldridge to step up to the plate, as he had just 2 points in that previous match-up.

On Seattle's end, rookie Kevin Durant had 23 points, something Portland won't have forgotten either. Portland must answer Seattle's defense of Roy by shutting down Durant offensively.

This is the first game of back-to-back match-ups with the Sonics, they play them in Seattle Friday immediately following Thursdays home game.
