Trail Blazers Look To Extend Current Winning Streak, and Streak Against Warriors, To 3
By Devan Cook
After an impressive win at home against the Lakers on Friday, the Trail Blazers will head to the Bay Area to match-up against the Golden State Warriors Sunday.
Fridays game was a huge win for the Trail Blazer team. Portland has struggled in the recent weeks, but with the return of Brandon Roy who has missed the two previous games, as well as James Jones back in action, the win against the Lakers made it two in a row for Portland, who also beat the Clippers on Wednesday.
Redemption was on the teams' mind on Friday after they lost a heated battle against the Lakers on their court Tuesday. But speaking of teams seeking revenge, the Warriors aren't likely to have forgotten the losses they suffered in both of the previous match-ups with Portland this season. Both of those games were on Trail Blazer turf, so now that the team travels to their court, the Warriors will want to return the favor. This is the final game of a 5 game home stretch for the Warriors, who can take a 4-1 record for the stretch if they beat Portland.
The Trail Blazers, despite recent struggles, could still have a chance at capturing the final spot in the playoffs if they pick up the pace over the course of the next several weeks. The Warriors, who currently hold that final spot, will be battling to protect it, making this match-up a heated one.
Brandon Roy was still showing signs of pain in his right ankle during his first game back Friday. Hopefully he will be in good shape on Sunday, as the team has only won one game this season (Wednesday against the Clippers) in his absence. Needless to say, his contribution as the team's leader is crucial.
Jarrett Jack had a phenomenal game on Friday, with 21 points and 10 assists. He could also play a key factor on Sunday if he has another star performance.
The game airs locally on KGW at 6 p.m. Don't Miss It!
