The Portland Trail Blazers are proud to announce tryouts for the first ever Trail Blazers Hip Hop Dance Team. This co-ed team is open to those at least 18 years of age or older.
Tryouts will be held September 10 and 11 at the
Trail Blazers' Practice Facility in Tualatin.
Participants should bring a dance resume to auditions. Finalists need to be prepared to perform their own individual routine on Sunday as part of the final judging process.
The team will perform at select regular season home games throughout the season and will represent the Trail Blazers at events throughout Oregon.
Trail Blazers Hip Hop Dance team coaches Medora Cesarano and Mari Nakama will be joined by a group of judges for the two-day tryouts. They will select the 12-person team.

About the Coaches:
Medora Cesarano has been a premier hip hop dance instructor and choreographer in Portland for many years. With more than 25 years of dance experience, she has focused on hip hop and funk as her primary style over the last decade. She has coached dance teams at Portland St.
University, Oregon St. University, and most notably served as the coach of the Portland Fire Hip Hop Squad, the dance team for Portland's WNBA franchise. In addition she was a member of the BlazerDancers for five seasons and performed with the 95.5 Jam Squad at various concerts
and events.
Mari Nakama brings a wealth of various dance backgrounds and styles to the team. Her expertise is wide ranging, including acrobatics, gymnastics, modern dance and hip hop. Her performances include corporate dance shows with Nike, key roles with local hip hop companies that have traveled to Alaska and Los Angeles, and the 95.5 Jam Squad. She is currently in her second season with the BlazerDancers.
Medora and Mari's enthusiasm and passion for dance, hip hop and live performance will be a trademark of the Trail Blazers Hip Hop team.
These aren't the usual movers and shakers you might normally find at the Rose Garden, although there will be plenty of movin' and shakin'. This team will be a collection of individuals with skill, energy and charisma, and they'll bring it to you "live" both on the floor and in the stands. Get ready for a new flavor this season!
