Seattle Stops Portland From Picking Up Two In A Row

By Devan Cook

One night after Portland snapped their 5-game losing streak in a home game against the Sonics, Seattle turned around and handed Portland a loss, this time on their court.

Travis Outlaw had 26 points, and LaMarcus Aldridge added 23 before fouling out at the end of the 4th quarter.

Brandon Roy also ended in double digits, but the combined efforts were not enough to stop Seattle, who, seeking revenge for Thursday, never trailed in the 99-87 win.

Kevin Durant had 17 points for the Sonics, and Chris Wilcox included 14. Despite the fact that the Trail Blazers had 3 players with more points than the Sonics' highest scorer, the home team had a larger spread of points amongst their players. Seattle's reserves played the largest part in getting the ball rolling for their team, beginning a run in the start of the second quarter.

Despite having won the night prior, this is a disappointing loss for Portland, who are struggling as of late to maintain their above .500 record. They have now lost six of the last seven games.

The upcoming weeks don't look to be any easier for the team; they host the Boston Celtics on Sunday who lead the entire league this season, although they lost their 3rd game in a row on Friday against Phoenix. After that, they face two difficult games against the Los Angeles Lakers and a match-up with the Phoenix Suns within the next couple weeks.

Portland will be hoping to extend the Celtics losing streak to 4 on Sunday, a mission that, if accomplished, might put the team back on track and give them a fresh renewal of energy to gear up for the difficult tasks ahead.
