Trail Blazers mascot, Blaze, along with some of his friends, participated in this year’s Rose Festival Junior Parade on June 8. Blaze rode in the back of a convertible as his friends marched along side of him. Along the parade route, Blaze and his friends waved and greeted the crowd filled with people of all ages. The parade looped for a mile through the Hollywood District in NE Portland and finished at Grant High School.
The Junior Parade is the US’s largest children’s parade with hundreds of kids marching in bands, riding in floats, cruising on bikes, dancing in drill teams and / or walking their pets. This year’s Grand Marshall of the parade was Strawberry Shortcake and appearances were made by more than 20 elementary and middle school marching bands as well as several dance, drill teams, and the Mayor of Portland.
