Portland Trail Blazers center Dale Davis joined forces with Portland Parks and Recreation and the University Park Community Center to help make the Thanksgiving holiday a little brighter for some Portland families.
150 turkeys and 150 food baskets donated by Davis were handed out to 150 invited families from the University Park & Clarendon SUN School area. This is the second year Davis and Portland Parks have joined forces, and the 23rd year that Rufus Conner and UPCC have hosted the event.
"I really wanted to do something that would help in the community and we thought this would be the best way. I'm really glad I can make Thanksgiving better for so many people," said Davis.
"We had some help from Costco, United Salad and Food 4 Less. They really came through in helping me get the food together and the University Park Community Center was amazing at getting the baskets organized."
University Park Community Center serves hundreds of families each year through recreational programming, mentoring and after school activities. The Dale Davis Foundation benefits at- risk and economically disadvantaged youth.
