Five-game road trip continues against the Timberwolves
The Portland Trail Blazers (33-31) look to secure the season series with a win against the Minnesota Timberwolves (14-28) tonight at the Target Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. Pacific.
The Blazers, in the midst of a five-game road trip, take on the Timberwolves in what will be Portland’s fourth game in five nights. It’s also the second game of a back-to-back for the Red and Black.
The Trail Blazers are up 2-0 vs. the Timberwolves this season, winning 109-98 on December 28 at the Rose Garden and 90-79 on January 2 in Minneapolis. Brandon Roy is averaging 23 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists against the Timberwolves this season. LaMarcus Aldridge played two of his best games this season against Minnesota, averaging 19 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists.
James Jones, who recently returned to the Blazers lineup, is averaging 15.0 points on 60.0% shooting in two previous games against the Timberwolves.
Portland has lost five of the last seven in Minnesota, but has won six of the last eight overall.
The Blazers might be fatigued after losing last night to the Cavaliers, but the Timberwolves are sure to be well rested as they haven’t played since Saturday. They enter tonight’s game having won two in a row, both on the road. Minnesota has yet to win three consecutive games this season.
Randy Foye, who was drafted by the Trail Blazers then subsequently traded to the Timberwolves for Brandon Roy, is expected to make his first appearance against the Blazers tonight. Foye is coming off a season-high 26 points and six assists performance on Saturday. Al Jefferson, in his fourth NBA season, averages team-highs in scoring (21.4), rebounding (11.7) and blocks (1.7).
The Trail Blazers and Timberwolves wrap up their season-series on Saturday in Portland.
