Blazers president Steve Patterson, general manager John Nash and Coach Maurice Cheeks met with Blazers season ticket holders tonight. Patterson unveiled a
pledge to fans that included 25 specific steps the organization will take that details what the franchise’s principles and standards by which the organization can be held accountable.
“Paul Allen has said this is a new era for the Blazers, and these steps show that we mean it,” said Patterson.
Among the pledges, the Blazers made clear it would require appropriate player conduct, reconnect with the team’s heritage and create a player programs and development position. The team also pledged to acknowledge and address franchise highs and lows in a clear, straightforward and timely manner. Lastly, the team promised to continue its investment in the community through volunteerism and youth outreach programs throughout the state.
The event with Blazers season ticket holders was held at the Rose Garden on August 6, 2003. In addition to introducing the new pledge to customers, the Blazers announced lower season ticket prices,
lowering average ticket prices nearly ten percent. Each customer left the presentation with a copy of the pledge and the new ticket pricing.
“Whether you’re a season ticket holder, suite holder or a fan watching the team on television or listening to the radio, everyone needs to feel proud about their association with the Blazers,” said Patterson. “This pledge sets forth the foundation for the relationship between the team and the community.”
