Blazers Hire New Chief Financial Officer

Portland, Ore. – The Portland Trail Blazers recently hired Gregg M. Olson as Chief Financial Officer. Olson brings 19 years of professional sports accounting experience and 21 total years in business management.

He joins the Blazers after serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League and Silicon Valley Sports and Entertainment since 1995. Before moving to hockey, Olson was the Vice President of Finance for the Major League Baseball Cleveland Indians.

Olson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baldwin-Wallace College with a degree in business administration and an emphasis in accounting before serving as Senior Auditor for Ernst & Whinney.

In his new position as chief financial officer with the Blazers, Olson will supervise all accounting functions and will provide overall accounting expertise for the entire organization.

Olson’s wife Karen and daughter Alyssa will join him as they settle Southwest Portland. His son, Nicholas, will begin his college career this month.
