The Trail Blazers players, coaches, broadcasters and staff adopted several Albina Head Start classrooms this holiday season.
Following practice, the Trail Blazers hosted a holiday party at a Head Start classroom in Northeast Portland.
"We love getting out here with the kids when we can. Seeing them open presents made me feel like a kid again," said Coach Maurice Cheeks.
The class started the holiday party with a number song and a welcome tune. Damon Stoudamire was on hand to distribute gifts to each child. Once each student had their presents, the class erupted in chaos of wrapping paper.
The excitement was obvious as Damon helped removed toys from their packaging. From remote control cars to singing dolls, learning pads to teddy bears no child left without a smile on their face.
"I'm glad we were able to bring some happy faces to these kids, " said Damon upon leaving, "they were so much fun."
Each year, the Trail Blazers players and staff donate holiday gifts to Albina Head Start classrooms during the holidays. Each student receives two gifts and an outfit of clothing.
