Kia Motors Presents the Trail Blazers Summer Tour ’08: Burns
Our third day of the tour started with a hot & hearty
continental breakfast in Burns, Oregon.
Under the impression that our clinic would be on a half-court
outside of a Boys & Girls Club, we were relieved to find that we had
been relocated to Slater Middle School. Jerome and Duck visited with
special needs kids in the classroom while Lisa, Dick and I warmed up the
campers with a game of knockout. With 45 kids on hand, the clinic was a
little more controllable than in days prior.
After the clinic it was off to lunch where we received top-notch
treatment.
Next was a stop at a double-wide trailer which housed KZZR 1230
AM. While we were there, we made a radio host cry with excitement when
we gave her an autographed basketball, Brittany and Lisa received a
horse and carriage ride from a couple from 'Colorada,' and Duck caught
the interviewer so off-guard she was speechless for about five seconds.
Before we headed out of town, we stopped at the Boys & Girls
Club for Teen Night. Brit bowled a turkey on the Wii, Lisa lost to a
5-year-old at a game of pool and Jerome and I shot hoops outside with
the adults who ran the clinic.
Now we're off to John Day (population 1,000) to wrap up our
four-day eastern Oregon exhibition.
