Trail Blazers Street Jam 2009

The 6th Annual Trail Blazers Street Jam 3-on-3 basketball tournament and festival benefiting Special Olympics Oregon was at the Rose Quarter over the first weekend in August. More than 500 teams and 2,000 players took to the pavement, parking garage rooftops and hardwood to crown champions in 32 divisions. Players came from as far away as Atlanta to battle in games, shooting contests and an incredible dunk competition.

Trail Blazers Street Jam was more than basketball. It was community coming together to benefit Special Olympics Oregon and its incredible athletes. There was fun for the entire family in addition to watching to great basketball, from face painting to bungee jumping to Dew Action Sports Tour demonstrations and much, much more. Bands played throughout the weekend providing a different type of rhythm than the bouncing balls.

The dunk contest was one of many highlights to this years Trail Blazers Street Jam as several retired Trail Blazers provided their judging expertise. Trail Blazers legend Terry Porter, Chris Dudley, Michael Harper, and Michael Holton sweated through round-after-round of the contest, holding up rating cards for the players and their incredible dunks. The Trail Blazers Basketball Outreach Staff, Adrian Stelly and Larry Brazzle, led four groups of athletes through the McDonald’s Kids Clinic on Center Court. All-in-all, it was the most successful Trail Blazers Street Jam ever. Click here to see photos from the event. Below is a list of the 2009 Trail Blazers Street Jam Division Winners.
