LaMarcus Aldridge Named NBA Western Conference Player Of The Week

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 21, it was announced today by the NBA.

In wins vs. San Antonio, vs. Milwaukee, at San Antonio and at New Orleans, Aldridge averaged 26.3 points (51.7% FG), 14.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.25 steals and 1.25 blocked shots.

The only NBA player to rank in the top-10 in both scoring and rebounding this season, Aldridge posted four games of 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds on the week, bringing his season total to 13. In Friday’s triple-overtime win over the Spurs, Aldridge tallied 32 points, a season-high 16 rebounds, two blocked shots and a career-high five steals.

Aldridge blocked two shots Saturday at New Orleans, giving him 625 career blocks to pass Joel Przybilla for fourth-most in franchise history.

This is the eighth career NBA Player of the Week honor for Aldridge, who also won the award for the week ending Dec. 7. Aldridge was an NBA All-Star and All-NBA Third Team member last season, and trails only Clyde Drexler for most Player of the Week honors (10) in franchise history.

Atlanta’s Al Horford is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
