How Acquired --- Selected from Baltimore in 1970 NBA Expansion Draft.

Departed --- Traded to LA Lakers for cash and 1972 2nd round draft choice (Ollie Johnson).

As a Trail Blazer --- One of the original Trail Blazers and in the starting lineup in the clubís regular season inaugural against Cleveland 10/16/70 . . . Third leading scorer (15.9 ppg) and the leading rebounder, averaging 12.3 boards per game, the third best average in the Blazersí first three decades . . . Scored in double numbers in all but seven games he played in including the teamís first 33 contests . . . Had 20 ore more points 21 times and scored a Blazers career high 33 vs. Detroit 3/12/71 . . . Grabbed 10 or more rebounds in 50 games and registered 47 double-doubles (points and rebounds) . . . Six times he claimed 20 or more boards, including a Blazers career-high 26 10/27/70 vs. Buffalo . . . The 26 rebounds is a Blazersí record for a regulation-length game that was tied by Bill Walton in 1977 . . . Played all 48 minutes in consecutive games 11/29 and 12/1.

After Basketball --- An eight-year NBA veteran when he joined the Blazers in 1970, he played six more years before retiring . . . Earned a championship ring in 1971-72 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers . . . Also played for Baltimore and Philadelphia during his 13-year career which included 1,048 games , , , He scored 10,176 points and averaged 9.7 points and 8.3 rebounds . . . After retiring, he made his home in Portland for several years before moving to Los Angeles . . . Two of his sons, LeRoy Jr. and LeRon, starred in Oregon prep basketball and LeRon, after earning honors while playing at the University of Kentucky, was taken in the 1st round by the LA Clippers in the 1991 NBA Draft and played in the league three years . . . LeRoy continued playing basketball long after his professional career ended, including being a part of several Senior Masters Games national championship teams sponsored by the East Bank Saloon in Portland.
