In 1970, Glickman, teamed with other local investors to win an expansion franchise with the National Basketball Association. The Portland Trail Blazers became the first major-league sports franchise in the Pacific Northwest. Glickman served as executive vice president of the team for several years before assuming his role as the teamís first president in 1987. Glickman continued to serve as president until his retirement in 1994. He continues to serve as president emeritus. Following his career with the Trail Blazers, Glickman joined Portland Family Entertainment, a business venture promoting baseball and soccer in Portland, OR. Glickman was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1986 for his contribution to sports in Oregon. Harry and his wife, Joanne, make Portland their home.
