We are asking fans to join us in our efforts to be more environmentally conscious and to help us reach our ambitious impact goals over the next 10 years.

WASTE

Our first Green Game this season is on November 7th, focusing on WASTE. Our nonprofit partner for this game is Urban Gleaners, which helps alleviate hunger by rescuing edible surplus food from grocery stores and restaurants throughout the region – including from the Moda Center! Urban Gleaners delivers thousands of pounds of food from the Moda Center to families in need throughout the year. Take part in these activities at Moda Center:

  • 5050 Raffle: You’ll see our friends from Urban Gleaners selling 5050 tickets – support them and you might win some money!
  • Silent Auction: Urban Gleaners will also benefit from our silent auction located at the 5050 booth by entry A7, featuring exclusive Trail Blazers items.
  • Rip City Magazine: Keep an eye out for the Rip City Magazine feature about our commitment to becoming a zero waste facility.
  • Waste Sustainability Goals: Our waste diversion rate is currently at 90% - Help us reach our zero waste goal by recycling and composting at Moda Center!

GREEN ITEM OF THE GAME - Commemorative Poster

The Trail Blazers are hosting a commemorative poster series for each home game of the 2017-18 regular season. Throughout the Poster Series, there will be a limited number of posters printed and available for sale at Rip City Clothing Co. inside the Moda Center. Proceeds from the sales of the Poster Series will be donated to the Trail Blazers Foundation, which will then be granted to local nonprofit organizations. The artist for our green game series is Joe Wirtheim and the proceeds from the Waste Game will benefit Urban Gleaners.

WATER

Our second Green Game this season is December 2nd, focusing on WATER. Our nonprofit partner for this game is Green Sports Alliance (GSA), which leverages the cultural and market influence of sports to promote healthy, sustainable communities where people live and play. To support these efforts, we hope you will take part in these activities at Moda Center:

  • Be a part of the change! Text “Blazers” to 474747 to restore 1,000 gallons of freshwater to the Willamette and Deschutes Rivers, Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) and their Change the Course program.
  • 5050 Raffle: You’ll see our friends from GSA selling 5050 tickets – support them and help Change the Course. You might win some money!
  • Silent Auction: GSA will benefit from our silent auction located at the 5050 booth by entry A7, featuring exclusive Trail Blazers items.
  • Rip City Magazine: Keep an eye out for the Rip City Magazine feature about our commitment to reducing our water use per event day by an additional 10% by 2025 and to continue to balance all of the water we use. This season we will balance all of our water use at the Moda Center for the year through Water Restoration Certificates from BEF.

ENERGY

Our third Green Game of the season is on January 16th and is focused on ENERGY. Our nonprofit partner for this game is Bonneville Environmental Foundation, which educates and inspires the next generation of clean energy leaders through their Clean Energy program. To support these efforts, we hope you will take part in these activities at Moda Center:

  • 5050 Raffle: You’ll see our friends from Clean Energy Program selling 5050 tickets – support them and you might win some money!
  • Silent Auction: Clean Energy will also benefit from our silent auction located at the Trail Blazers Foundation 5050 Raffle booth by entry A7, featuring exclusive Trail Blazers items.
  • Rip City Magazine: Keep an eye out for the Rip City Magazine feature about our commitment to reducing our energy use per event day by 70% between 2008 and 2025, and to continue to offset all of our energy use.

Our nonprofit partner for this game is Zenger Farm, which brings together neighborhood families to connect with resources, learn skills and build relationships that strengthen their ability to nourish themselves with healthy food. To support these efforts, we hope you will take part in these activities at Moda Center:
