Marcus Camby and the Trail Blazers have teamed up with Genentech and the Children’s Cancer Association (CCA) for a second year to kick off the ‘Block Out Cancer’ campaign. As part of the program, Genentech will donate $25 to CCA every time the Trail Blazers block a shot this season. The Portland Trail Blazers will also lend an assist with an additional grant. Camby spoke of the importance of giving back and the reason he wanted to get involved with the program. “Cancer is a disease that hits home for me, so I plan on getting as many blocked shots as possible this season to help these children” said Camby. Funds raised through the “Block Out Cancer” campaign will support CCA programs helping children and their families battling cancer and other serious illnesses. Founded more than a decade ago by a family who has been there, the Children’s Cancer Association brings JoyRx to seriously ill children and their families, in the hospital and at home. When families need support, CCA is there with award-winning programs and resources, available at no cost to those in need, in Oregon, Southwest Washington and across the nation.
