Game Day Hub: Portland at L.A. Lakers

Led by Damian Lillard’s 27 points, five different Trail Blazers hit double figures in Friday’s win as Al-Farouq Aminu (10 points/12 rebounds), Mason Plumlee (18 pts./10 reb.) and Ed Davis (17 pts./15 reb.) registered double-doubles. With an average of 25.2 points per game, Lillard is ninth among all NBA players in scoring. CJ McCollum (20.1 ppg) and Aminu (12.9 ppg) also have double-figure scoring averages for Portland. 

In his 20th season as a pro, Kobe Bryant leads the Lakers with 16.1 points per game, while youngsters Jordan Clarkson (15.5 ppg), Lou Williams (12.3 ppg), Julius Randle (11.1 ppg), D’Angelo Russell (10.2 ppg) and Nick Young (10.1) all average double figures. 

The Trail Blazers and Lakers met once in preseason, a heart-breaking 104-102 loss at Staples Center. Rookie guard Pat Connaughton hit a three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left to tie the game for Portland, but Ryan Kelly’s dunk with two seconds left sealed the victory for the home team.
