Junior BlazerDancers, Stunt Team also holding auditions
PORTLAND, Ore. – Have you ever dreamed about cheering on your favorite team in front of 20,000 screaming fans? Now is your chance, as the Portland Trail Blazers are holding open tryouts to assemble the 2009-10 BlazerDancer squad.
“We have found a lot of talented dancers through this process, and right now interest is at an all-time high,” Performance Teams Manager Michelle Woodard said. “We encourage dancers of any experience level to attend the audition.”
Tryouts will be held July 18 and 19 at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center, with registration beginning at 8:30 am. Participants must be available both days, must be at least 18-years-old and must bring a head and full-body shot.
Approximately 40 finalists will be selected to go through an interview process and participate in the final round on July 25th.
For the second consecutive year, Comcast SportsNet will film the tryout process to create the reality show, “Making the Sweet 16.”
The BlazerDancers are comprised of 16 dancers chosen to best represent the organization at Trail Blazers games and throughout the community. All interested dancers, including members of last year’s squad, must participate in the tryout to earn a spot on the squad.
Additionally, the Junior BlazerDancers will hold open tryouts August 1 and the Stunt Team will hold invitation-only tryouts August 7-9. Applications, paperwork and additional info for the BlazerDancer, Junior BlazerDancer and Stunt Team tryouts can be found by
