1999 Points of Light Foundation Award

Last season, the Blazers received the Points of Light Foundation's Excellence in Corporate Community Service Award. The Foundation is a prominent Washington, D.C.-based organization devoted to acknowledging and promoting social service and volunteerism. The Blazers Community Builders employee volunteer program was specifically cited as a key reason the Blazers were honored. The Blazers are the first professional sports franchise to receive this award.
National Basketball Association TeamUp Award
Blazers Community Builders Youth Corps (BCBYC) was named the 2000 NBA TeamUp Award recipient, an award honoring student volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to community service. BCBYC, modeled after the Blazers Community Builders internal employee volunteer program, is a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland. The program consists of 100 middle and high school students who are empowered to do community service while gaining knowledge in philanthropy.
National Head Start Association Corporate Partner Award
The Blazers received then National Head Start Association's 2000 Corporate Award. The award honors a company or organization that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Head Start program. The Blazers received the award for its Spanish Immersion program developed and funded for 22 Portland-area Albina Head Start centers.
United Way of the Columbia-Willamette Century Award
The Blazers were recognized as one of the community's leading philanthropic companies of the century by receiving the United Way of Columbia-Willamette's 2000 Century Award. The award, honoring 69 local businesses, was given to organizations for outstanding local philanthropy.
