St. Baldrik’s Day
April 3, 2005
Trail Blazers Center Joel Przybilla and Jerry Moss, Director of Trail Blazer Community Outreach, and Blaze the Trail Cat were on hand to help celebrate St. Baldrick’s Day at Barracuda on Sunday, April 3, 2005. Joel served as a Celebrity Barber, shaving 6 heads in all, one of which belonged to the Trail Blazers own Jerry Moss, Director of Community Outreach.
"This March I got to visit some kids that were battling cancer. When I saw how brave they were, I wanted to help. I keep my hair so short that my head would not be much of a shave so I volunteered to shave a few heads. I am very impressed by these people that volunteered and raised money. I really enjoyed shaving Jerry's head. What a great event!" - Joel Przybilla
St. Baldrick's Day is a whimsical twist on St. Patrick's Day - when brave volunteers agree to shave their heads bald to raise funds for childhood cancer research. While coordinating hundreds of head-shaving events, St. Baldrick’s Day provides a fun and rewarding experience for all participants, with goals both ambitious and serious. Jerry Moss volunteered to shave his head because he believes, "Children should be thinking about their dreams, not about a serious illness. We want to help them realize their dreams any way we can."
The primary beneficiary of St. Baldrick's is CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation - which supports CureSearch Children's Oncology Group - the world's foremost childhood cancer research organization. CureSearch NCCF proudly supports the work of CureSearch Children’s Oncology Group, a network of physicians, nurses and scientists who conduct clinical trials in childhood cancer and perform cutting-edge research at more than 200 member institutions, representing every pediatric cancer program in North America, treating over 90 percent of children with cancer in North America.
